In a discussion on the global role of the dollar, Zhu told an academic audience that it was inevitable that the dollar would continue to fall in value because Washington continued to issue more Treasuries to finance its deficit spending.

I personally do not see a stimulus helping at this point as this is not the normal business cycle recessionary event - but IMO an end of an era of excessive debt creation that cannot be recaptured because we have reached our limits of solvency.

I do not think there is any way we don't follow Japan's path to recurring recession interspersed with periods of subpar growth.

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. - George Washington

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. - Thomas Jefferson

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. - John Adams

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. - John Adams (1814)

The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests. – Patrick Henry

A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody. – Thomas Paine
