I have been a user of BBO for the last 4/5 weeks and must say that I don't think I'll bother playing here again.

Trying to get a game going is almost impossible - I went to 10 tables this am before I found one without a staller/blocker. These people just sit there and do nothing, no bids and/or no play.

Then there is the standard of play - absolutely terrible and when they realise the impossibilty of their bid they bail out which leads to table blockers joining.

perhaps you are playing in the WRONG area;

By your alias I assume you are in UK if so try Public Bridge Clubs then the Acol Club you will I am sure be made welcome and in general people do not Bail

THere is also the Relaxed Bridge Club and the WPRefuggees Club

BBO players are prone to bad connections. Don't assume that stalling and bailing are always deliberate

Set up your own table. As host, you can control who visits your table. If you frequent the small clubs, or join private clubs, you will soon learn who are friends or foes

First...welcome to the forums!

I am sure if you stay longer at the BBo you learn fast to handle with these problems, you will get a " look" how to avoid to step from one "dead table" to another.

On this occassion I would like to suggest smth. concerning Main Bridge Club.
I play very often there at the random chosen tables, from my experience many of these "dead tables" exist because member use this way to avoid to be logged out, due to their inactivity. How about.... to give these people a possibilty to handle this in other way..in options?( maybe for one day long?)...whatever. I know, this "inactivity function" must stay for general membership, as a standard.

I had the same feelings when I joined.

The clue to the main room is to have enough friends that you don't have to play with/against unknown players too often.

There are a number of ways to get friends:

- Join a couple of clubs
- Read BBO forum and find some posters you like. Their BBO name is usually the same as the Forum name.
- Play in individual tournaments.
- Pairs tournaments: Pick a partner with a nice profile
- Play in tournaments as a substitute.
- Kibbitz "interesting" tables and note which kibbitzers make sensible comments. Give compliments when they do.
- Bite through some time in the main room with stallers/runners/assholes/pseudoexperts and be generous with marking nice partners/opps as friends.

It is also worth remembering that while it's tempting to criticise your partner's bad bidding/play at the table, it is not helpful and can be seen as rudeness.

GiB robots do not stall or block, and are immune to abuse. I strongly suggest that you play against these poor creatures. Recent antics by certain new players within the Acol Club have left behind a trail of enemies and disrespect

It is unfortunate that initial experiences elsewhere have left new players with the opinion that this behaviour is the norm, and that they have been unable to un-learn the bad behaviour that they first witnessed in the Main Club
