Scoring: IMP

1NT-2
2-3
4

Lead is K East playing the 2 (odd number).
When you play a Heart to dummy, West discards a Club.
Take it from there.

Any particular reason why I didn't play a diamond back at T2? The hand seems easier to manage if I ruff a diamond in hand and rely on the spade finesse or the 10 dropping.

I don't think it's necessary to play a diamond at trick 2. You can still manage your main chances by starting with a trump imo. Well now, do you regret not to have played a diamond back :) ?

Because defense could have defeated you then. Shape must include at least 3 spades for east which means shortness in one of minors. So if you lead minors defense can make east to pitch too many so they will get ruff for 4th trick.

Next I run 3 rounds of taking the finesse. and then lead towards dummy to get chance for cross-ruff.
