OK - we are almost ready to do a forced upgrade to the
general membership, but we would appreciate if you
could check out the latest version and let us know if
you find any problems.

You can update your version:

www.bridgebase.com/beta379/bbo_update.exe

or download everything (including the new files):

www.bridgebase.com/beta379/bbo_setup.exe

I suggest you use the first method, but in either case
please make sure you have exited the BBO program
COMPLETELY before you upgrade.

Again there are no new features in this version. It
contains only language-related bug fixes.

If any Polish, Romanian, or Czech users try 3.7.9,
"special characters" should now be displayed properly
in dialog boxes. Please let me know how this works!

Hey.

A few messages have not been translated.

i.e. "Automated message: This is a vugraph broadcast and you are not allowed to chat"

Is this deliberate? Do you want me to explore the whole of BBO for phrases that need translating?

Good news about the special characters in dialog boxes.

Thanks Florin!

2 more related things I am wondering about:

1) Special characters in the title bars of dialog boxes

2) Special characters in "message boxes" (the little
windows that report errors, ask you to confirm things,
"are you sure you want to exit BBO?" for example).

Are these things working?

No.... :) they're still ugly!
To be more precise, I have discovered the mouse over messages to be ugly, the title of windows such as the chat and dialog boxes such as "Are you sure you want to leave" / "you've been invited to play", thus 3 places so far.

Thanks for the info, Florin.

As I understand it, the font used for the title bars of windows
and for message boxes is controlled by Windows. There are
default fonts for these things which can be changed through
Control Panel.

So far I have not found a good way to override the default
system font, but I was hoping that it would not be necessary.
I thought that everything would work automatically if BBO
was run on a PC with a Romanian (or Czech or Polish) version
of Windows installed.

Now it seems that either you do not have a Romanian version
of Windows installed on your PC, I am wrong about my
assumption, or you have changed the system font yourself
through Control Panel.

I suspect that I am wrong :D

Can you (or anyone else out there) shed some light on this?

Have you seen similar things happen with other programs?

I think I shed some light. I found that version 3.8.0 can show the special fonts in all the places, (using WinXP) IF ALL Regional Settings are set to 'Romanian' (for ex), that is 'Standards and Formats', 'Location' and 'Language for non-Unicode programs'. Will try in a week using Win98 as well.
PS: I never used (and don't ever plan to) a Romanian version of any Windows.

in this new version, when I'm host and try to remove a player, their names dont appear in the boxes anymore...

Must choose to remove "North, South, East or West" now. No names...its harder this way...can we add names back please? thanks

Had a related problem. A team host was disconnected, and I tried to modify the tournment to make one of the other players a director. Software would not allow the change because the host player (who was lsited as one of the players at a table) was off line. I kept getting an error message that "named player" was not onlline and the tournment could not be modified. I use to do this all the time.

The solution was I subbed myself in, then changed the named player on the table listing, then modified the tournment, then found a sub for me. Yuck. Maybe I could have changed the player name to sitout and then modfied the match, don't know, will try that next time.

ben's problem is an old one i think...just that nobody brought it up before. Mm, don't know why I never did. Anyways, its not related to 3.8.0, but would be nice to have a solution...

another thing is the list of tourney leaderboards, it is too unmanagable when we try to search for a past result...
Automatically highlighting of tourneys that you've been in would be a nice start. (something like how myhands works)
