Was there a prize offered for the most frequent use of the blue card? That would explain this bidding sequence.

It is pretty funny, but, then again, I am also an evil person.

[By the way, assuming that 5♥ was making, I suspect that the redouble wound up costing his side some points after the run to 5♠]
