as the colours are favorable for EW I try to break them of bidding like they are reversed +500 should be easy +980 or 920 could be hard.

This has the feel to me of a potential double game swing - or simply their game on distributional values. I don't expect to get rich doubling and might lose a bunch.
It appears their HCPs are most likely in hearts and spades, leaving partner with maybe something like xx, Kx, xxx, AQJxxx.
I kind of like 4N but would give serious thought to a plain vanilla 5C bid.

My reason for posing that question what should East do, was a follows:
East (who is a friend of mine, I was South) doubled and 4S made up 1.
East did not get much sympathy from his team - mates - and I wondered whether or not he was right to double and how much support he would get from the panel
In the other room our teammates bid a no play diamond slam - with two top hearts missing and a potential heart ruff. The contact made on the wrong lead
The 4 hands were somthing like this:

I didn't like double before and I don't like it now.
Even ignoring that the 'no play slam' requires leading declarer's opening bid suit from Kx to set, it's also a good save over the cold 5♠ of the opponents! Well done teammates.
