Assume you open 1H, partner bids 1S, now your bid?

If you bid 2d partner bids 2H, then your bid? If your next bid is 3C what does it mean? and what is partner supposed to do with a 5233 or a 5242 or a 4234 or a 4243 or a 4225 hand. Partner has 6-9 hcp.

I like the 2 rebid , because this is a complex hand, and I need the space to show my suits.
After 2 the auction has developed favourably for me , now I can bid 3, which is naturalish and showing extras.
Over 3 pd can support s, bid 3NT with max and strong s, bid 4 with Qx there and 5233 with good honour location, return to 3 with min and nothing better to suggest etc..

this is of course not risk free. after all is partner expected to continue holding?

Maybe Pooltunas hand can bid 3. With 8 points I rarely pass 2 unless I don't have a good bid. This hand is a baddish 8 though.

Anyway, agree with mich.

No WAY would I jump shift. As for which minor to bid it's a somewhat interesting question. 2 leaves me better placed over 2/2/2NT since I can take a cheaper third bid. It leaves me worse placed if partner raises since I can't bid clubs over 3, and I'm worse off if partner bids 4SF for the same reason. So I think with extras you should bid 2 on this shape to cater to most weaker rebids by partner, but with a min you should bid 2 to cater to the stronger rebid by partner. That means 2 here.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

2D is the right bid with this shape if you plan to bid again (which we do).
