Scoring: Total Points

See http://preview.tinyurl.com/lrgh8y for the full hand record.

So often we post here to point out the stupid/crazy things GIB does; I thought I'd show it playing well for a change. This was in a Robot Rewards tourney, with 3 or 4 minutes to go and I was in the money, but in the middle of the pack.

I opened 1♣, West preempted 3♦, North bid 3♥, and in response to Blackwood showed its ♦ void, so I bid the grand despite my wasted ♦K. The lead was a ♦, ruffed. On the run of trumps and 3 rounds of ♠, West couldn't keep both minors guarded. GIB correctly played for this, and the contract rolled in, shooting me into the lead. WDP!

If I'd actually looked at the scoreboard I might have stopped in 6, since that would have put me into the lead with the scores that were there at the time. But while this hand was playing, one of the other high players must have scored something, because I only won by 420. So I needed the grand to hold on to 1st place.
