scattered strength with a range that is hard to describe so 1NT works the best IMO. When is it 1♦? When you can tolerate a reverse something like

Naturally when I bid like this pard will have a 6-7 count and 4 spades

At IMPs, you want to bring diamonds into the picture as a possible trump suit. 5♦ may be superior to 3NT at IMPs, and you may be able to find 6♦ on some occasions.

There are probably some 6322 types that I'd open 1NT in 3rd but not in 1st.

easy 1nt for me but then I would open very often 1nt with 4=2=5=2 shape.
14+ hcp with this shape cause me too many issues if I do not show a nt type hand.

As it is I would normally open 1NT, but 1♦ in 2nd seat r/r and possibly in a few similar situations.
