Rebid after DBL Your opinion

I was just looking at our 1920 agreements with pard, and had some doubts about the following one :
(1m) X (PASS) 1♥
(PASS)
What would 1♠ show now (and why?) :
1. 4+♠ NF, strongish game still possible facing 6-7 HCP.
2. The same, but 5+ Spades.
If the latter, what do you bid with 4=3=x=x (or 42xx) and no suitable hand for NT ?

1♠ is 5+ spades and too strong for a 1♠ overcall, i.e. 17+ points or such.
with a 43xx and not stopper in opps'suit you either pass (11-16 pts) or bid 2m (opps suits) with 17+ points.

The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

you are asking in a vacuum. What meanings have you assigned to 2m, 2♠, 3m,3♠. Personally I would take as a hand too good to overcall 1♠but with either no ♥ fit or 3 at best.

You can construct hands where 1♠ is four, but it isn't real common.

I can't think of one. Toss one or two out there?

AKQx Qxx Qx AQxx facing Jxx xxxx xxx xxx, after a 1♦ showing 4+♦.
I'm sort of happy with 1♠.

1♣ - dbl - pass - 1♥
pass - ?
As a matter of fact I remember a very old MSC where Rubens suggested that even a 2 of a minor rebid could be four.

I think that hand should bid 2♣, but I can see 1♠.
