QJ10x x AKQxxx xx

Imps, unfavorable

1st seat you decide to open 1D and it goes

1D - (4H) - P - (P) to you.

Lho is a bit of an unknown quantity because he's been off the bridge scene for a while but by all accounts he used to be pretty good.

He is still good as you have just been presented with an ugly guess and good players excel at that. Is partner capable of doubling with 2 A in the unbid suit? If not I would risk 4 as there are many hands that make with a fit and any 2 of AK, A,A certainly even
has odds on play

Blah this hand sucks so much. FML and pass I guess. Bridge is hard lately. Can't believe I'm about to lose a double game swing :)

Wow I think pass is completely auto, what am I missing? Obviously though if you act it's double, 4 is a bit of a lol.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

If I'm playing my normal game I'll pass, but this is the kind of hand that if I were tilted or tired, or something else I'd bid.

Which may be right, but it probably isn't.

I know you're not missing this and you mean "pass is completely percentage" but the biggest downside to me is we could easily be on for 4S and defending 4H. Some of that time 4H will even make too. Generally in those cases it's right to bid.

Double for me.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Does partner expect 5xS if I try 4S? Ie 6D 5S? Or 4S = 6D 4xS and big offense hand?

I always open 5xS, so only 4xS is possible, and 5D clear if no 3+S. No C interest possible.

How could partner distinguish this 6Dsolid4xS with at most DA likely DT from semi-bal 18 if I double?

I would double and pray for a 4 spade bid from partner.
Kind Regards

my gut feeling was to bid 4.

But analysing a bit further, if partner has a penalty pass this is gonna suck so much landing into a the 800 hazzard. And this is the most likelly scenario. I am gonna pass and even rate double over 4 wich was my first reaction.
