This is just a bit too scary for me, with the long spades behind me and a heart fit. 3H.

They're vul. and we're white?

If you were behind the 1S bidder, this is a pass, wtp? expecting 500/800.

Since you are in front of the 1S bidder, this hand should be downgraded on it's defensive potential. Partner has doubled for takeout and will hold at least three, and probably four hearts. While it's tempting to pass at these colors, it is probably better to show the heart suit here.

Bid 3H. Double 3S if given the chance.

I would not be surprised if pass is the winning choice on this particular hand, however, I would not expect it to win in the long run.

jmoo.

Definitely 3♥. I would compare this to passing a takeout double of 1♠. They're a level higher but you expect RHO to have more spades and partner a singleton at the very most. And it's game if they make. You basically need solid spades to pass this.

I bid whichever of 3♥ or 2N followed by 3♥ shows the worse hand in the system I play.

3♥ look like the normal bid. Passing may be a good idea if you need to create swings to catch up on IMPs though.

not even then. Catch up by playing good bridge. Maybe the other table won't get it right. 3H

Whoops yeah thought it was matchpoints. You definitely can't pass this at IMPs. I think pass is a reasonable shot at MPs though. It seems not unreasonable to hope to take 3 tricks and for partner to have 3 sitting behind overcaller.
