Hi
A pick-up partner seemed to suggest that you can pick up master-points in regular BBO play (i.e. non tournament play). Is that so, and, if so, how?
Also, I notice that there never seem to be tournaments restricted to level of ability (e.g. intermediate). Accordingly, intermediates have virtually no potential to pick up masterpoints when playing against all the experts you seem to see in tournaments. Or perhaps I'm just missing something.
Thanks! Keith

No, you cannot win masterpoints in non-tournement play. The ONLY way to win ACBL masterpoints on BBO is in ACBL santioned tournments.
As to your second point...that's why the ACBL games are stratified. Since you can set the skill level to whatever you want, using that as a restriction is kinda pointless.

I remember at some point they tried 299er games online, but they seemed to have as much of an appeal as the LM games online. I don't know if they're still happening.

Thanks, I didn't realize the ACBL tournaments were stratified. I'd forgotten about that. Haven't played tournaments in 10 years and am just getting back up to speed. Thanks, Keith

How does one enter their ACBL number into the BBO database? I cannot find it, or even remember if I have done it.
Thanks
Thanks

In v1 after you click on ACBL Masterpoint Tournaments, you get a screen with several options. One of the Options is "Update Your ACBL Number". On v2, enter ACBL World and you will see an option that says "Update Your ACBL Number".

I can't see any of that. I am using BBO for Windows.

I think you went one screen too far.
1. log on
2. click on ACBL Masterpoint Tournaments
3. Click on Update Your ACBL Number
If you click on the 2nd ACBL Masterpoint Tournaments at number 3, it takes you directly to the tournament schedule page. This page is all blue and has 6 options on it.

There are two kinds of masterpoints to win on BBO:
ACBL masterpoints can only be won in the ACBL tournaments.
BBO masterpoints can be won in several kinds of pay tournaments. They cannot be converted to real-life masterpoints, but they determine the symbol (2-10, J, Q, K, A) in the upper left corner of your profile.

I solved the problem. I had my login screen set to "classic view" which gives you none of those menu items. When I turned off classic view everything popped up on the screen. Thanks very much for the help.
