Scoring: MP

P P 1H 2C
X P ?

1. I thought it was close between 2H and 2S here. Are both reasonable, or is one obviously better than the other? If 2S is obvious, what is the worst 3-card spade suit with which you'd still consider bidding 2S?

2. I chose 2H; lefty rebids 3C and partner bids 3D. What now?

2S is obvious. Had I bid 2H and partner bid 3D I would pass, sounds like he's 4-6.

Do you prefer 2S over 2H with any 3 card suit here?

Depends on suit quality imo. I would say I would bid 2H 60 % of the time with this shape if I had to guess.

Thanks all - partner had a 5251 9-count so 2S definitely works out best.

I do not like bidding 2S with only 3 cards and would rebid 2H. I would pass 3D.

Why did partner not dble 3C if they are so interested in bidding more? That would get me to introduce S.

I need to toy a bit with rebidding 3 card suits and see ho weffective it is. I would at this time jsut rebid 2.

with NFBs partner might try 2 if he has the ace.

That would be one way of getting a level higher than you want to be on some layouts. Rebidding after a neg double by partner is a problem, but partner also knows it is a problem. You had a choice to rebid the same five-card suit you started out showing, or showing a nice KQJ support for a suit partner is probably interested in at the two-level.

I think the choice was easy.
