I was trying to think what we might have in our somewhat chilly climate to offer. (I know we have canola, something new and in the spirit of the article). Maple syrup is a bit pricey but people used to make spruce beer (which apparently tasted horrible) so instead of the Spruce Goose we could have spruce juice - an alternative use for trees which might actually leave some standing....what's not to love about that?
