2D was alerted as 4 trumps 7-9, opps are very agressive.
We have an agreement that 4th hand bidding can be pretty light (when all other 3 players have showned points).
Is it obvious ?
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

This is probably another of those sequences where you wanna know if partner has 5 hearts but he will still bid 3♥ with a minimum 2434 :/.
Do people out there play 3m now as showing extras? woul it be different if 2♥ wasn't a free bid?

Oh I bid 2♠ btw.
I believe that the USA currently hold only the World Championship For People Who Still Bid Like Your Auntie Gladys - dburn
dunno how to play 4 card majors - JLOGIC
True but I know Standard American and what better reason could I have for playing Precision? - Hideous Hog

Some partnerships might double for takeout here showing four hearts and then 2♥ shows five and something in which case I would bid 4♥.
This seems a very inefficient convention of the opponents'. It keeps the bidding low so we can get in while they announce a fit. I suppose it is some sort of modified Drury.

...and was it "pretty light" as opposed to very light?

What were you playing your partner for?
I'd bid 2♥ as advancer with xx KQxx xxx xxxx or xx QJxxx Qxx xxx. Even if you think that's too weak, surely xx KQxxx xxx xxx is enough, so insisting on game seems excessive.

Yep that is surely better. I wish i thought of that at the table. If partner pull to 3m you pass but if he bid 3H you bid the red game.
2H can be light but at imps it served no purpose to bid 2H if you never have a play for 3H. So imo to bid 2H with 24(34) shape and 5 pts is totally useless (unless you have the agreement that its a lead directing).
It make sense to bid 2H with a hand that facing a good take-out double (1444) 15 pts and with a bit of luck you can make 3H/ or you have a good chance to defeat 3S if they take the push. The fact that opener didnt rebid 2S can suggest that he only had 4 trumps but still ive played partner for at least
KJxxx and a side Q or KQxxx and a stiff spade.
