after deciding to 1♦, I experienced some buyer's remorse:

AKxx
AKQJ
QJxx
K

1♦-1♠
4♣-4♠
???

imps.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Insta pass dude. Stop thinking about your HCP.

You are off the DA, DK, CA, and SQ. You need partner to have THREE of those cards to make slam unless he has the DA and SQ and you have enough pitches on the hearts. Even then you won't be close to cold, especially in a 4-4 fit, possibly you will still need a diamond hook and 3-2 spades. Qxxxx xxx Ax xxx is the perfecta, and partner should cuebid with that!

The other perfecta is a stiff diamond and 5 spades queen and the CA, or like stiff D CAQ and SQ. Meh.

Pass, this hand ilustrates why people who overbid splinter with 15 counts 4441 are wrong. 5431 is way stronger.

Pass

Even thinking is an overbid... consider what you need and then consider that he didn't bid 4♦. He doesn't have what you need.

I expect partner to move on most hands with a minimum and nothing wasted (or a little extra with some wastage) or more.

Some of those hands where partner cooperates we don't have play for slam ♦K ♠Q and a couple of jacks.

Over a sign off I hope we can make four.
