Kxx
AKx

Axxxxx

partner opens 4, first, all white. what is your plan?

well RHO bids 4. now what?

if you don't bid over 4, what do you lead?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Easy pass if RHO had passed, easy double when RHO bids. Sure they might make but down 2 seems more way more likely when RHO was under tremendous pressure to bid and we seem to have 4 tricks. I mean one time pard have the DA? lol

Initially planned to pass, now X.
Lead K, get count. If no A in dummy, 2 hearts and a 3rd for a ruff if that's on. If A in dummy, take A before giving the heart ruff. If no heart ruff on, play the diamond instead of the 3rd heart

X of course. If RHO passed would depend on how conservative a bidder partner is.

X.

Diamond.

If 4D would have been passed around, 5D.

1) Put down dummy in 4.

2) Double.

3) A. Can't imagine not leading a heart from this holding, but if I am not allowed to lead a heart I probably try A (hoping to deal out a ruff) before a diamond. Partner has bypassed 3NT - he has long diamonds, perhaps he has the Ace, but often he will have something like an eight card suit to the Jack.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

I'd have passed 4.

Now I double, of course.

I lead the A. If there's no ruff, I most probably will switch to diamonds.
Kind regards,
Harald

1) I pass. Can be difficult enough

2) I pass. I wont risk misunderstandings

3) I lead diamonds. My values are running nowhere but a possible ruff is likely to. 5 diamonds out likely to be 2-3

Misunderstandings? Do you mean if double is for penalties or not?

partner had

x x qjt9xxxx Kxx

and I doubled and lead a diamond :P well I was lucky because diamonds were 2-2 and there was no club discard.

I was thinking of bidding 5 but would have probably passed (as you can see there are only 10 tricks)

what do you think or rho's decision on aqjxx xxxxx ax j ?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I think it's why we preempt.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I'll be laughed at by some but I think he should double 4, not bid 4. Obv bad if partner bids 5 but that's very unlikely at this level (even when we have a singleton IMO) and you are money if partner passes the double or bids 4.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

IMO
  • After 4 (_P) ?? ... 5 = 10, _P = 7.
  • After 4 (4) ?? ... _X = 10, 5 = 7, _P = 5.
  • After 4 (4 _X AP ?? ... K = 10, x = 9, x = 8.

1. my p opened 4, if RHO pass, I prefer 5, I do think that is a big chance!
2. if RHO bid 4, then I would 4NT(Blackwood), I got K, my p with short , so 6 is my expectation.. I trust my p! he must have X, XXX, AKQJTxxx, X , Dbl is a negative biding. :P :P
3. if pass 4, I prefer to lead A
