I probably posted the question at the wrong point in the auction.

Partner balances with 2, rho passes. What now?

3NT, yes wtp? Introduce partner to the famous Russian player after the round - Isla Kutchanutzov.

3NT is the only intelligent choice. Unless you can bid 3 to show hearts + diamonds and a FG hand.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

My actions in order:

1. Pass over 2
2. Put a bullet in partner for not balancing with a double
3. Bid 3NT, and hope for the best
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

I think 2N is enough. We have a misfit, and our hearts though well positioned are not a trick source like they would usually be, and we only have 12 points.

3NT obv. I guess I'll regret this if partner is spades and diamonds and we are weak in clubs, but more likely to me is he has clubs on the side with his spades and there is absolutely nowhere for the opponents to get tricks.

I really think partner should pass out 2. But we do make a fair amount of spades or diamonds so it sure could have worked out to reopen.

At imps ill bid 3Nt because its a hand where it might make and even 2 might fail. (it like a 5 or 7 hand)

At MP il bid 2Nt because if we go down the undertrick will be important. Also that 2Nt dont expose the trap pass as clearly as 3Nt do.

Obvious 2S by partner.

For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

Well said, though I think at the table in MPs I would usually just get aggressive and bid 3N.
