Mark me down for a double. Best choice of the lot.

Lets start by eliminating the obviously bad choices:

Pass is tragically flawed. You'll never be able to catch up and show values.

2S is idiocy. You're short a Diamond. Worse yet, you have an intermediate hand. 2S should be good or bad, but not in between.

This leaves Double and 2H.

Personally, I prefer a two level overcall to have a bit more texture than this, should I'm voting for a double. Lack of a 4th Club doesn't bother me much.

1) Support for other three suits,
2) Really poor quality suit (althought 5th is nice)
3) Lots of values

Double, as clear cut as whereagles said.

Automatic Dbl, suit quality is very poor, even I think it's not enough!!

As noted, double is clear cut. No call is perfect; for examply you could end up on a 4-3 club fit that won't play all that well after 2 rounds of spades, while you miss a reasonable 5-3 heart fit, but you will avoid playing 2 doubled on a 5-1 or 2 fit. Way too much to pass; Michaels is out of the question with a 5-4 and intermediate values.

I vote for 2 overcall.
Yes, my suit is poor. Yes I have play in 3 suits. But no, I don't need play in or , I need to not miss game with 3 cards support and good 7hcp in my p. Decision between overcall and take out dbl depend not only by shape but also of staistical possibility to make game. Hand in examle have enough power to make game even opposite preemptive raise and it don't have right rebid after negative response in /.

Do I have any 6 card suit win opening values?...No, then canīt bid 2//
Do I have the strenght and structure to double?...Yes, then canīt pass.

Ok, down to 2 choices, 2-suiter or double.... it isnīt that hard, is it? :(

Hi Gonzalo!
I am wonder what you will say, if you know that Marshall Miles wrote about overcalls with 4 cards at 3 level ;)

I bid 2h at Mps.
I double at IMPs.

At MPs when holding 5h if I don't double there's no way to compete to 3h when pd has 3 card support for hearts and that can be the key to win the board.

At IMPs this is a crystal-clear double.

I just suffered from those 4 card overcalls, our opponent overcalled 2 after 1, and I had xx/Kx/AKxx/AQ10xx, my partner failed to reopen with 4-5-1-3 and we scored 700 (we failed to draw trumps) losing to 6 920 at the other table ;)

Assuming there is going to be more bidding, if I bid 2 now I can double if it goes 2 pass pass back to me and partner should be well-enough placed to bid 3 of a suit.

If I double now it is unlikely partner will bid 2 with 3.

What's the problem? This anaemic heartsuit you can't bid at the 2-level.
My strength is in minors. I treat the hearts as fourcard suit.

Should be clearcut, well at least in my eyes.
