Most amazing tennis match.

I don't recall another match where the players hit so many "winners" only for the other person to somehow manage to return it.

The courts at the US Open seemed to help prolong the rallies (and I mean in a good way)

I agree that this was a fantastic match.

There is no reason to think that the US Open courts prolonged rallies; it is the same surface that is used in all of the "US Open Series" tournaments. It is faster, for example, than was used for 20 years at the Australian, so it should not be prolonging rallies. This (at least partly) explains why Jim Courier won 2 Australians (he also won Roland Garros twice, on the even slower clay) whereas he never won Wimbledon or the US Open; Agassi won 4 Australians vs 2 US Opens while Sampras won 2 Aussies and 5 US, etc.

Saw a bit of it. Very nice match indeed. I'm particularly impressed by Djoko's improvement over the years.

2010, Jan1st - Sep 15th, against top 10 players: 1-4
2011, Jan1st - Sep 15th, against top 10 players: 20- 2

quite an improvement ...

Before internet age you had a suspicion there are lots of "not-so-smart" people on the planet. Now you even know their names.

The AO final was more entertaining. Nadal was a little better (in the AO final) and Djokovic a little worse.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Yeah it was amazing, I was happy to be in Australia at that time so I could watch the games at normal hours.
