You guys have talked me into 2♥ when I've got 3 card support and a side singleton, and it's been working out well for me.

Should I stretch a bit to 2♥ here? Should I just pass? Don't think I'm fond of 1NT....

What would double show for you?
To me it shows 3 hearts, so it would fit perfectly.

Yes, dbl probably shows 3-card support. If you can't double with this hand, bid 2♥.

Without the 1♠ overcall I wouldn't raise hearts with this hand but many forum posters do.

Hi,

Show the 3 hearts, either via double or via a raise.

Given your spade length, pass is an option, because
if you pass, the auction wont end, because partner will
be short in spade and should reopen, but if the guy, who
overcalled 1S bids 2S showing the 3 hearts will be a lot
more problematic.

Like the others said, you should make use of supportive double (and redouble).

If I don't have that, I'd pass with 4 spades as in your case, but would bid 2♥ with 2 or 3 spades as I'd have less defense in my hand.

2♥ (or a support double) has the advantage that from that point onwards the hand is well described, so you can happily let partner make the mistake later.

If you pass then you have shown your minimum strength, but you have concealed your heart support. You might feel you want to, or actually do end up bidding later on in the auction because of the ♥AKQ, and it is almost always better to get in early with support and then shut up, rather than the other way around.

When opponents have interfered, it is standard practice for Dbl to mean "I have 3-card support". Lacking this agreement I would simply Pass with a weak NT and no stopper.

I make a support double. Failing that I would bid 2♥. Without the overcall I bid 1NT.

If I can't support double I think 2♥ is beyond obvious. AKQ, a 14 count, no spade honors, and a doubleton?

If I could choose between 2♥ and double, I'd choose double.

I have first hand knowledge about hands like this raising on the premise that "this looks like four trump"and its worked out poorly.

The problem raising is that we sometimes will have to ruff in this hand and our high trump might as well be a low one. Also, partner may misjudge our combined fit based on four trump and overcompete.

Yep support double. If it isn't available, then I like 2H. Purity values and a doubleton.
