Pass.

I believe this simply comes down to partnership agreements. When I was playing, I strongly believed that at IMPs this sequence was important to be considered a 1-round force, else some hands become too troublesome to bid: AKJxx, xx, Kxx, xxx

It's forcing, so I bid 3 unhappily.

It's NF so I pass.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I play it as forcing.

As I hold the AJT over the 1 bidder, I may bid 3 as a trial for 3NT. If partner does not have a decent hand with a stopper, he can stop in 3.

At MPs, I'd probably not get too adventurous and would rebid my clubs.

I think it is important that advancer can bid a nonforcing 2S here, since I think he will hold a good suit , but not-so-strong hand quite often.

This hand is good for the system - overcaller can pass.

I can understand it being forcing if RHO had passed, but it's silly to play it that way over the 2H bid.

OK. I can agree to this point, but opponents could have any limited hands with a 5-3 heart fit. Whereas partner could still be the one staring at a decent hand with a good spade suit etc.

What are the forcing options available to advancer? Assume he has a biddable spade suit and does not have obvious double stoppers (AQx or KQx) in the opponents suit.

Can we agree this is not true?

I play NFBs in competion, so for simplicity I would play 2 here as NF but of course constructive.

My main question (out of genuine desire to know) was "What are the forcing options available to advancer?" Most of you responded that 2 is NF in your system.
Scoring: IMP

Advancer is South. Bidding so far:

1 - 2 - 2 - 2
Pass - ???

Obviously, the above is a construction and will not pop up frequently in real life. But most will open 1 with West cards (wtp?) and if I separately posted the East hand, most of us will raise to 2 (again a wtp?)

But N/S are cold for 5 and can afford one more loser but still be in game. If you held the South hand, how do you bid it? To repeat my key concern, what are forcing options for South?

double, 3, or with a good hand with spades, 4.

neither W or E has a wtp 1/2.

S has a wtp 2.

Sometimes both players bid perfectly and still miss a game. so what?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

It's forcing and I got extras. So I'll bid a KenRexfordian 3.

If pard has 6 spades, he will rebid them and I'll raise.
If pard has 5 spades and a stop, he'll bid 3NT and I'll pass.
If pard has 5 spades and no stop, he'll bid 3 and I'll bid 3.
If pard has 5 spades, no stop and 4 diamonds, he'll bid 4 and I'm screwed :)

Spades are 3-3 with the king onside and we will guess the diamonds right (or set up a club for a discard). Game is good but I have missed better games than this one.

Besides, North is close to being strong enough to make a move over a NF 2 bid. When passing I would realize that I might miss game, but North doesn't have a convenient rebid so I would have to hope that South doesn't have a maximum 2 bid.

Hahaha, nobody realiced this is a joke hand, Adam said we overcalled 2 on a 5 card suit :).

Ok, sorry, sorry. Even me might overcall 2 with this suit. Pass looks in order, nothing in the world is gonna make me rebid my already shorter than expected clubs once more. Specially when partner had a double avaible to show spades and club aceptance. 3 and 3 are the choices after pass.

Even with E/W passing throughout, it would be very easy to miss game or end up in a disastrous 3NT. maybe oppo did you a big favour.

Re-invent the penalty double and defeat 2 doubled by 3 tricks?
I find it amusing to see that it is actually N/S who can make 2

West had 9 losers and a bad 11 points, East had 10 losers, no ruffing values, 4333 and 5 points, so destructive methods are again victorious

We are all doomed, chaos reigns supreme and constructive methods are dead and burried... hoorah :(

This is what the game of Bridge has become?
