4 competitive bid. I didn't expect opps to pass, probably they will bid 4, where I can bid 5. Having 7-4 is not good idea to bid your second suit directly, because lack of entries.

For me, this one has two possible options, 4 and a choice not given, DBL. Here, dbl is for takeout (all my doubles are for takeout until a fit has been found).

The possible problems with DBL.

1) Can dbl here be "game try" in 's, freeing up 3 bid as competitive? I don't think so, support will have to already be shown for that to apply.

2) Our clubs are short and our diamonds are good. Even if partner has a club fit, are strong enough to stand alone. It would be better to play in a 7-1 diamond fit rather than a 4-3 club fit here.

3) Partner may take the double at least a tolerence for spades, which you don't have.

4) Partner may pass the "takeout" double, and if he does, your hand will be a disappointment.

So, in final analysis, I will to along with the 4 bidders above. I a bit surprised no one commented on the choice of 1 opening bid.

Abstain.
I open 4d this hand. For a zillion reasons. One of them is that I have 1/2 defensive trick

This is the sort of hand you can only play in your suit. I bid 5. Don't agree with 4 because that would tend to show a stronger and (perhaps) less distributional hand.

4D is pretty clear to me here, but i think ill pass 4H because my diffence is not too bad, especilly if partner has the A of spade.

Abstain, but I'd be cowardly and open 3D at unfavorable. (i'd go for 5D at favorable).

I'd open 4, so I won't have this problem. But in this case, if 3 is weak raise I just bid 4 and if it is limitraise I bid 5.

bid 4, second suit is no use. You still have the opportunity to show at 5-level, and perhaps you can play 4 for some insane reason <_<
