I was thumbing through Sabine Auken's "I Love This Game" recently, and noticed her effusive recommendation of her preferred carding method vs notrump at Trick 1. In brief:
>>
When we don't have to play a card to beat dummy at Trick 1, we consistently contribute a standard card as follows, where X simply means any small card, H any honor card, and S denotes the card we contribute at Trick 1.
xS
Sxx
HSx
xxSx
HxSx
xxxxS
>>
Two questions, one specific, one general:
1. How low does a card have to be in this approach to be considered an honor? I assume Jack is an honor, but is a Ten also considered an honor?
2. Why exactly is this such a great carding agreement? The huge difference between a two-card holding and a five-card holding makes it easy to read when partner follows with the lowest card--I get that part. The rest of it seems as if the situations can get a little murky though. Does anyone have experience with this agreement, or something similar?
Tnx.

Two partners have asked me to play this so far. Mileage may vary but in general it's very nice! The information about two small is often very important, and also other situations clear up very quickly, in general.

I dont see why this can be better than attitude.
Example that if fairly frequent is see all the time
partner lead a low card dummy come up with Kx or Qx , and you have Jxx. Depending of the hand you might want to encourage or discourage.

From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
