You lead the dia A from KTxx T9x Ax Q9xx and dummy tables
A9xx xxx Txxxxx void. Partner plas the dia 2 & declarer the 9.
What do you lead to trick 2 & why/ Apologies if this is a wtp, but didn't
seem clear cut.

I would have led a trump at trick one.
From where we are now:
- If opener has x AKJx Kx AKxxxx or better we can't beat it.
- If he has QJ AKJx x AKJ10xx, we can't beat it
- If he has a similar hand without ♣10, either red suit beats it.
- If he is 5-6 we can't beat it.
I play another diamond, in case declarer has done something barking and has a second diamond loser.
From where we are now:
- If opener has x AKJx Kx AKxxxx or better we can't beat it.
- If he has QJ AKJx x AKJ10xx, we can't beat it
- If he has a similar hand without ♣10, either red suit beats it.
- If he is 5-6 we can't beat it.

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

The first thing that strikes me here is that NOT making an opening trump lead looks like a bad idea....
As it is, I agree with gnasher's analysis, and continues diamonds.

Gnasher & Skaeran- thanks for your analysis. You both would have defeated the hand with a 2nd diamond as declarer held void AKQJx Q9 AKJTxx. I also agree with your suggested opening trump lead even though "resulting" declarer could make since the trump were 3-2 & the clubs 4-3. Again, thanks for the comments.
