Your hand: (S,H,D,C)

Questions:
1) How would you bid this hand with your favourite partner when your RHO starts with 1 Club (opponents are silent for rest of the auction).
1a) What would your partner bid if you decide to double with your hand? What will be a follow-up sequence?
1b)Does your system allow you to bid 1NT with your hand over 1C; and what will be a follow-up sequence?
2)How would you and your partner bid the hands if your RHO never opens the bidding and opponents remain silent throughout.

Hi Deevan,
If I understand it correctly, your rho starts with 1♣. Then it's better if you show partner's hand on top and yours on the bottom, and say "East opens 1♣". RHO is to the left on the diagram (west) if the long diamonds are south, and that is confusing. As it is, some may think that the hand with the long diamonds is in direct seat over the 1♣ opening.
I overcall 1NT with your hand, I don't think it's strong enough to dbl and then bid 1NT, but of course that's a matter of style. Then partner bids an invitational 3♦ and you hopefully pass that although I am not sure if I could bring up that much discipline.
If you start with double, p will bid 1♦ and you have to rebid 1NT. P will raise to 3NT.

The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

using 1b and 2
1b--------i bid 1n/t over 1cl partner now can use stayman and transfers,
if pard bids 2d(transfer i bid 2 hts awaiting developements
2---------I open 1cl (can be short non forcing) and if pard bids up the line (1d)
i rebid 1 ht and await develope ments
upon looking again at my partners hand,i assume pard is not a rescuer:)))))))
on 1b pard shld pass 1n/t,but if he bids 2d he shld pass 2 hts
on 2 pard shld pass 1 ht
N.B.if pard presses on ((( suggest you promote your partnership to represent your respective countries

I would bid 1 NT and be lucky to play in 3 Diamond thereafter.
Kind Regards
