They pre-empt at the 3-lvl. What's the best way to deal with these situations? I'd make a poll but then I'll have to make 3.

3 on your right, you're Vulnerable, they're not.

With both Vulnerable 3 on your right, you?

No-one Vulnerable, 3 and you?

Bonus:

This hand has been edited, The A was missing.

Do you bid 3 over 3?

3-X-4-???
3-X-Pass-???

Same hand, two situations.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

1) I double. I've got no trick source to bid 3NT as much as I'd like to. I'll just pass whatever partner bids. Pass is too 'disciplined' imo.
2) Double, clear
3) Double, clear
4) No. Partner's still there. If he bids 3 I bid 3N, if he bids 4... I'm worth a raise to 5 probably. If he doubles I'll have to see the vulnerability. Probably I bid 4.

5a) Toughest problem. I'm going to nudge it to the 5-level though at the risk of hanging partner, 5. 30-point deck.

Bidding 5 is too commital. Maybe the suits are breaking badly but no one said finesses can't work. Anyway I have a feeling that the club suit is splitting as evenly as it can with this bidding. If partner bids 5 I bid 5.

5b) 4C, clear

1) Pass, call me disciplined
2) Double, yes it's a little offshape, but the hand is very very good and you have both majors
3) Double, don't really see the problem
4) No. It's rarely right to stretch to bid when you have length in their suit
5a) 4
5b) 4, I am not going to be able to show a slam try anyway, and I don't want partner to pick hearts with 3-3 in the majors.

have to admit, I bid 3N with both 1 and 2. Sometimes it's wrong, but that's why preempts are effective.

3 is an easy double for me.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Someone, many, MANY years ago once told me to play partner for 6hcp in immediate seat (i.e.: 3Y-?), and about 9 hcp in balancing seat (3Y-p-p-?). BUT, listen to the bidding!.

3NT, X, X, Yes, 4, 4

1, 3, 5, and 6 are wtp. 4 is pretty much wtp, but 3NT is barely an alternative. On 2 3NT is not terrible.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
