A New Convention?!?

OK, so you overcall dealer's 1♣ opening by bidding 1♦ with ♠Jx ♥x ♦A1098x ♣QJ10xx. Responder bids 1♠, and partner bids 2♥. (In case in matters, your partner did not have Snapdragon available, as you do not play Snapdragon.)

Opener doubles.

What would you do?

In practice, the choice taken at the table was funny. The person passed, and 2♥X was the contract, down three, for -800, when a contract that can still be bid makes easily. The person who passed commented that his partner, the Advancer, could have redoubled. This is a new form of the S.O.S. Redouble. "Partner, you have a stiff or void in hearts and 5-5 in two suits. Please tell me what your other suit is."

Maybe pass is right, and you live with -800, or maybe this new S.O.S. Redouble is right, or maybe partner's 2♥ call was insane. But, would you pass? If not, what would you bid.

The reason I ask is that I thought the solution for overcaller was obvious, but no one (strangely) thought that was the correct decision. There were a gamut of strange alternatives (strange to me) proposed.

And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Yeah, that's what I thought. LOL

The double was penalty. A request for explanation before any calls yielded that correct information. I was, in fact, intended as penalty.

They probably thought that the cuebid had to be conventional... don't ask me why. ;)

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Please explain to me why I bid with this hand without a rebid in the first place? I have nothing in the majors, so where am I going?
