Question: Would 3♠ over 2♥ have been a splinter? (I think it should since 2♠ is forcing).

You have to make a move with this. So far you have only shown Kxxxx QJxx Ax xx. 5♣, 5♦ and 5♥ are all reasonable, but I think 5♥ is the most intelligent call. You've skipped both minors, so there can't be a concern about either, and I think 5♥ gets pard to look at trump and maybe the ♠A.

I like Phil's reasoning... 5♥ should hopefully ask partner about his trump holding, which is our biggest concern. But is there maybe a chance that it will be interpreted as asking about ♣? I like it anyway...

Would be nice if 6C could be interpreted as Exclusion here.... :P

Problem with 5♥ is that partner might pass with ♥K and ♠A and ♦K (doesn't 5♥ ask for 2 honors in the trumps suit?). 5♣ or 4♠ are another possibility. Unless partner can pass 4♠...

4♠. If pard now bids 5♣, there's wastage there and we should stop in 5♥. If not, maybe there's 7 in sight ;)

I think about passing, since pard did not bid 3♣ followed by hearts/spades to show a strong hand, for example. Pard may have made their two over one on x K9xx KT9xx KQJx and is trying to just signoff into game.

I would bid 5♦. I want partner to value his diamond king, and hopefully he can picture my club shortness, especially as I cannot be bidding on power.
