I have started to develop connection problems with the web interface. I am running windows vista home premium on a laptop connected via a wireless router. When everything is running smooth my network icon in the system tray displays that I am connected "local and internet". When I am connected to the BBO server via Flash, everything seems OK for a few minutes, then the page appears to freeze, and I get disconnected, and the icon in system tray displays "local only". I right click on the icon, repair the connection, and it seems to re-connect me to the internet, except that I have to close down IE and relaunch in order to connect back to the BBO server. All very irritating as I tend to prefer using the web client for robot tourneys.
Anyway, I have none of these problems when connecting via the Windows client.
Any ideas? Don't go all techie on me as I won't understand.
It might be interesting to observe whether there is any correlation between frequency of disconnections and type of connection (web v windows), as viewed across the entire membership from the server end.
Incidentally, I don't know if others have observed this or if it is just an illusion, but my perception is that GIB plays the dummy faster when I am connected via the web client (when not plagued by disconnections). Does that make any sense?

The site has a lot going for it -the facilities especially-- Im taking a poll "IF WE PAID MONIES" would the site be up to scratch,i have vision's of a room with 6 persons Hairless-(they have torn it all out, due to previous problems, and in another booth

I have long suspected that many disconnections are caused by a clash between virus/spyware scanners and the adverts displayed on BBO. My machine often freezes every time an advert changes, and always works perfectly whenever the adverts fail to display
As a TD I have noticed a rise in disconnections recently which often exceeds 20% of players

During the past week our ISP has been the victim of a series of rather major attacks that have had a greater impact on the web-client than the Windows client.
There is not much we can do about this other than wait for the storm to pass. Hopefully that will happen soon.
Sorry about the inconvenience.
