You bid 2♣ over RHO's 1♣ opening to show majors. LHO raises to 3♣ and it comes back to you.

To show extras you can double, to show 5♠6♥ you can bid 3♥. What is 3♦? Is it a natural bid, showing 5530? Is it 6♠5♥, based on the idea that 3♠ would be impractical if it is a misfit and p prefers hearts? Something else?

Undiscussed bids are natural. So 3♦ is some 5530, unwilling to sell out to 3♣ for whatever reason overcaller judged to be valid.

Good question!. I Play DBL here as equal length 5/5 and expect P to bid accordingly. 3♥ shows longer ♥ 6/5 most likely. How do I show longer ♠ 6/5 bingo 3♦. Makes sense to me.

Then what if the suit is ♦... I guess you must bid 3♠ here? As for when ♣ are the suit... 6♠ and 5♥ makes logical sense to me, so I think so.

In my partnerships, Michaels is either strong or weak (playing tricks and HCP), not a mid range. And the strong variety is shown when the Michaels bidder voluntarily rebids, like here, but I have no clue what the 3D rebid means. Good question. Having to guess, I think it shows a diamond fragment and void in clubs, in addition to being a strong hand.

3♦ patterns and (obviously) shows extras. I suppose you could make it 6♠5♥ but with a void club and a diamond fragment, diamonds could be a great trump fit.

Double should be a good 5-5, I think.

Good thought helene, 3D as art 65 might be good, but I think bidding 3S with 65 and taking your chances is fine. Especially if your style is like mine to often overcall 1S with 65 unless pretty weak or very strong. I think doubling with 553 is a bad idea, and having a natural 3D bid is both useful and practical.

I have a rule that if the Michaels bidder voluntarily bids or raises one of his suits, he implies extra shape but not a strong hand; other bids suggest "strong Michaels". So I voted "other", but a strong 5530 would make sense.
