How High?

5♣
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

7♣. Make then guess.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

NV preempts are pretty random these days, so...
5NT, inviting pard to cooperate in a sacrifice at the 7 level if he has a suitable hand.

I would hate 5 NT it gives them one more round to bid.
I go for 6 ♣, may even make.

Interesting problem at all NV.
There are three possible bids for me; 5, 6 and 7.
5 just doesn't do enough. LHO can take a call and RHO will surely raise.
7 just offers up an 800 against their likely 980, but it might be 1100 too. Good opponents seldom bid the grand here.
6 feels right to me. LHO might guess to bid 6, but will probably double.

6 ♣ seems right. They are guessing at the slam level and may go down if P judges to let them play there, and we shouldn't get hurt too badly if they X.

I think 7 is right. I don't mind 5, but I sure don't want to bid 6 when that's exactly the level I think is most likely right for them to play on.
