Can anyone give me some info on what this file should contain and what the various entries mean.
Am expecially curious about ServerIPAddress1 which I have noticed seems to vary.
The value in my version differs from the value in that of a friend who lives about 2 miles from me.
His version also contains items that mine does not.
eg:
[UPGRADE]
WIP=N
Run=N
[DOWNLOAD]
Major=5
Minor=0
Patch=3
ServerKey=503upgrade.exe
CRC=0
Size=1520798
CurrentFileTempFileName=

I actually removed BBO completely and re-installed but this made no difference to the content of my version of BBOVER.INI.

Further to my initial post:-

I inadvertently deleted BBOVER.INI and when I started BBO (windows app) the file was recreated but it now contains only :-

[UPGRADE]
WIP=N

Does this mean that the previous content is redundant and that windows app does not in fact need the file?

Summary: you probably should not mess with this file .

Details:

bbover.ini is a file that contains configuration information for netbridgevu (which is the windows version of bbo)

The main information it contains:

What hostname to connect to ( bbo.bridgebase.com )
what port to connect to ( 9999 )

It also contains

The fallback IP address of the host to connect to ( useful only if the user's pc cannot resolve bbo.bridgebase.com . actually it isnt that useful...if bbo.bridgebase.com can't be resolved, either bbo or user is having trouble anyway)

Whether the user is running BBO under Wine ( linux & mac users ).

How the program should communicate with a browser if needed. C - COM is normal. A - ATL is a fallback. E - External tells bbo to use an external ( not embedded ) browser

That's it for configuration. The last bit of information in there is not really config info but is used when BBO is updating itself to the latest version.

These upgrade-related fields are ( major, minor, patch, serverkey, crc, size, and currentfileTempfilename ).
