1♣-1♦, easy
1♦-1♥ or Pass. I prefer 1♥ but I'd tell a beginner to Pass as you might end up playing in a 4-3 (moysian) fit.
1♥-2♦, though having so many hearts might not be good.
1♠-2♦. Double is for people whose partnership agreements allows them to bid 2♦ over partner's 2♣. On my methods that bid would show a very nice hand, therefore I'm not doubling.
1NT- ??? It really depends on your methods. Playing DONT 2♦, but there are many possibilities besides it.

I think only over 1♥ and 1NT I'd have a look at the Vulnerability, but maybe not.

This question was some sort of sanity check for something I encountered while reading "2/1 game force" by Max Hardy. in the overcalls section, his comment for this hand is "This hand illustrates the kind of hand that should overcall with a four card suit at the one level. if the opening bid had been 1D this overcaller should bid 1H on his good four card suit. No other entry into the auction has any merit." I was confused by the last sentence and thought he was suggesting pass if the opening bid is 1C,1H, and 1S.

Hardy is saying that while overcalling a 4-card suit isn't ideal, if you hold this hand and hear a 1♦ opener, there is no other non-pass except 1♥.

With the sentence you're highlighting, he's not saying anything about actions over 1♣, 1♥, or 1♠.
