One spade, I expect more bidding.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I like 2, a bit of a stretch but our hand is good if partner has 4 spades.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

"Quack quack..the duck it goes quack quack"

1 for me, inspite of an extremely likely 9 card fit. 4 of my 7 HCP and both my tens are quacking in the opp's suits. Certainly PD has some and I have no idea whether they are worthless.

I'll take the slow road here with the boss suit.

1 would be a chicken bid, not a duck. :)
I would try 2 or x followed by 2 over 2 of a minor.

I slightly prefer double, because I hope that partner can evaluate his hand better when I bid 2 Spade next round.
Kind Regards

Roland

2. I don't think that's a stretch, and I'll probably have another go with 3 if I get the chance.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

X, followed by bidding spades.

The X is not penalty, but it showes hearts,
which in the end translates to penalty.

As it is, I can bid both majors, and i will
do this.

With kind regards
Marlowe

PS: I am not sure, I would treat a heart bid
after a spade bid as natural.
With kind regards

I am void in partners 2nd suit and my QJ is wasted since partner is shot in that suit. a 2 bid, should promise a little more. Partner is likely to expect a and fit after dbl, I think it would be a big risk to dbl in a pick up partnership.

4. Let them find out about clubs if they can.

If you try 1/2, you might be able to bid hearts later (just in case RHO psyched), but it may have to be at the FIVE level.

1, because the auction isn't over yet, and because it's possible partner is strong with clubs.

2, surely the fifth spade is worth something; in spite of the quacky nature of the hand.
