Are transfer prempts allowed in the acbl games online at bbo?

Those same games where the TD announces that GCC applies?

If they are disallowed, could someone please quote the chapter and number of the law?

Thanks

The GCC states that anything that is not expressly sanctioned is banned.

The GCC specifically sanctions 4♣ and 4♦ as transfer preempts
Therefore, NAYMATS type stuff is allowed

The GCC does not sanction other types of transfer preempts
Therefore, you aren't supposed to play them

They are definitely not allowed because 'Transfer Preempts' was written on my convention card (but never came up in an ACBL tournament). During a BBO/ACBL tournament opps called the Director who informed us that transfer preempts other than Namyats were not allowed.

I had read the GCC many many times but did not figure out they were not allowed till that incident!

It's not a matter of law, it's a matter of regulation.

Transfer preempts (except Namyats) are Mid-chart.

What is the difference between law and regulation?

I am not from the US and I have spent ages trying to figure out how to 'read' these charts to check the legality of my agreements and the more explanations I get the more confused I get! ;)

The tournament organizer’s powers and duties include:

The laws, promulgated by the WBFLC and, in the Western Hemisphere, the ACBLLC, are identical, with the exception of certain elections allowed within the laws, worldwide. They form the basis of the game. But in recognition of the fact that some things are done differently in different places (like whether bidding boxes are used, or what calls to alert, or when and how to alert) the laws, as quoted above, permit tournament organizers to make whatever regulations they see fit, so long as they don't conflict with the laws (which is why it is illegal to ban psychs of natural bids, for example. Such a ban would be via a regulation which definitely would conflict with the laws).

Heh. Even those of us who are from the US have difficulty with the convention charts. I don't know what to tell you except do the best you can.

<nitpick>2NT and 3NT openings can be transfer preempts as well, on the GCC (well, minors and an unspecified minor, specifically).</nitpick>

In what way is a bid showing both minors or a bid showing either minor a transfer?
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

2NT as a preempt in either minor is midchart. 2NT as both minors and weak is GCC, but it's not a transfer.

3NT as a preempt in either minor is GCC, probably to accommodate Namyats. But it's not a transfer either. BTW, the alert regulation defines "transfer" as "a bid of a suit to show another specific suit (e.g., a diamond bid showing hearts)." Note specific suit.
