hmm... We have 2 losers, 2 losers, 2 losers and 1 loser. Partner rates to have a stiff , and some sort of entry... Meaning that we only lose 1, and maybe only 1. This means we are down to 5 losers, a winner at this vulnerability. Besides, if we go for 800, it's IMPs not MPs. Lose 4 or 5, oh well.

Haha I must be in bizarro world lately, I can't remember so often disagreeing with every response in a thread. I won't deny 5 could work, but I hope no one else will deny it could go for 1100 too. This is a crapshoot I'm not getting involved in on a minimum balanced hand. I pass.

2 spades 2 hearts 2 diamonds 1 club? You're right I was too generous, we could easily lose 2 clubs so make it 1400.

The A rates to be onside, now to find an entry... :)

Partner rates to have the T or a stiff . It won't be the first time I have gone for 1400.

I would bid 5 but I think it's quite close.

I think this is the kind of problem a double dummy simulator would do very well on.

squeak.

The relevant cases are:

1. we go for 1100
2. partner bids 6, and that goes 1100 or more
3. partner doubles 5 making
4. we go for less than 500
5. they bid 5 and go down one (doubled or otherwise)

Personally I think 1 thru 3 combined are a lot more likely than 4 and 5 combined.
