If the choice were between bidding game and playing in 3♦, I'd pass, but I wouldn't be particularly happy about it: partner might easily have something like xx AK AKxxxx xxx.

I think 4♦ should be invitational. If so, it seems about right. I think it would be optimistic to expect him to introduce a 3-card spade suit on the way to 5♦ - my partners never seem to think of that sort of thing.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
