Scoring: IMP

(2s)-p-(4s)-X-(p)-5d-(p)-?

Partner doesn't need much for a slam. KJxxx[x] may be all that he needs, as the heart finesse may be on as well. Do you to think this is worth one more bid and if so is there anything better than 6 ?

I'd bid slam. As you say, it doesn't need much.

Should we try to find 6 opposite 5-3 in the minors? 6 would be a better spot opposite xx Kxx Kxxxx Jxx (or xxx), but opposite xx xxx KJxxx Jxx we might make 6 even with the heart finesse wrong. Even opposite 6-3 we might be better in clubs from my side: partner might have Ax xx J10xxxx Jxx.

I'm not bidding 6: partner will pass that with far too many hands that belong in diamonds. Maybe 5NT is right, but that still sounds less suitable for diamonds than I actually am, so I'd just raise to 6.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I'll bid 5NT. That must show some tolerance for diamonds because I didn't bid 4NT over 4.

I bid 6. I would play 5NT as a grand slam try anyway, not a choice of slams.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

You should bid, partner is not supposed to bid 5D with a yarb.
