I have used the above in the majors, with good above average success, the formulae is simple rule of 11 applies--im also searching if one can apply it to the minors ,i think HG had one, this is what im searching for
obviously partner must know his respones,he also applies the rule of 11,
Law of total cards i.e. rule of 20 does not apply
any input would be appreciated --books/articles regards

Whatever the moment at the bidding, a player has exactly 13 tricks in his hand.

The law has been proved with success, but there have been found some cunterexamples as well.

On rec.games.bridge it's more of a suggestion than a law.

Do you mean Maurice Harrison-Gray that represented England in the 40's, 50's, and 60's and passed away in the late sixties? I have no doubt that he would have written good bridge advice, but it seems odd to consider a losing trick count updated by him.

1935 The Losing Trick Count by F. dudley Courtney and Col. G.G.J.Walshe
1961 The Losing Trick Count by Maurice Harrison-Gray

So Harrison-Gray did update the Losing Trick Count, sort of, although I would
talk differently about this.

This, of course:

Quote

LAW 1
THE PACK - RANK OF CARDS AND SUITS

Duplicate Contract Bridge is played with a pack of 52 cards ...

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

No one was actually confused, we're just having a little fun with your mistake.
