1 promised 2 or more diamonds and was limited to 15 points.
Support Xs are not on for us in this situation.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

Pass.

I have a semi-balanced normal opening bid (admittedly near the top of my range) with no extraordinary support for partner. There is no reason to say anything at this time.

Pass.

No clear direction. Too soft values for offence or defence. Since I don't know what to do maybe partner does.

We play 10-12 here, if it was 14-16 I agree it's a clear 1NT opener, thanks for pointing that out.

2NT here could be used as 5-4+ minors but I am not sure if that's the right hand for the bid.
It also could be used for something like: Kx xx AKQxxx Qxx; not sure which meaning is better but from what I remember Meckwell tend to use it as minors.

As you have 2NT 'spare' and can use it for the minors, then surely double should show this sort of hand?
Either it's this (a balanced maximum) or something like a 13(45).

p.s. you could use 2NT to show a good heart rasie instead.

Guessing they play precision, I'd X(TO/minors) but then we're pretty aggressive in this sort of situation.

Are you sure X is takeout? Wouldn't you like to be able to penalize if you hold something like AJxx x KTxx KQJx?

Penalty doubles would be extremely misguided in this sequence.

You guys are forgetting 1 was precision. A take out dbl is quite descriptive of this nice hand in context, with just enough defensive values to be quite confident of setting it if pard decides to pass.
