Hi - am looking for a nice regular tourney to play in, and welcome recommendations.
Requirements are:

1) English-speaking
2) Not ACBL (nothing against ACBL, but simply am not a member and not got time to learn up all the "charts").
3) Upholds the laws. Thus "Psychs not allowed" is a no-no. I can live with undos not allowed, although strictly contrary to the laws it is an area where the laws were not well designed for online play.
4) non-playing director.
5) clocked (may be flexible on this - open to convincing).
6) run during UK daytime, preferably sundays, next preference Saturdays (but would have to be afternoon/evening UK time), next preference weekdays (but would have to be evening UK time).

I don't mind paying a table fee. Up to now I have only played in free tournaments, but increasingly they are introducing psych bans. Not that I am particularly interested in psyching, but on principle I don't want to play in events where the organisers feel free to play fast and loose with the laws. Indeed I would rather play in an event when the opponents are allowed to psych against us, as I reckon on balance to gain from the exchange. I also think that psych bans are misguided, in that even if permitted under the laws such rules are not in the best interests of the players, but that is a personal opinion and others are welcome to differ. We can all go our own way.

That said, if there are free tourneys around that meet my requirements, I would be happy to give them a go.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

Hi, I'd have to recommend my tournaments of course. I dont have a set shedule but if you happen to see one in a time that suits, please join.

You can read here about the rules etc, I think the only requirement I dont fully meet is #4.

I second Kathryn's recommendation of Kiwi Kapers. Also The Cattery is nice.

Sounds good.

Not sure how important item 4 is anyway. No personal experience but the tales of others put me off. Certainly no harm in trying. Will keep my eye out.
