If it was both minors, it's even more clear to open the higher suit.

Sweet, I am the first 1♣ voter. I have opened both ways when 55 in the blacks, depending on my hand. I have had a mental image of Steve Robinson shaking his head in disappointment, but other than that, nothing bad has happened when I opened 1♣.

I might open 1♣ if I had 6 clubs this time, but I am not enterilly sure, in third position I'd open 1♠ even with 6th club.

1. With a good playing hand and weak to moderate high card strength, open 1♣ and then keep bidding ♠ at the minimum level.

Probably 1♠. A 5-3 spade fit is just too likely to pass up.
