(XX**) - 2 - (P) - 3 -
(P) - 3 - (P) - 4NT -
5*** - (P) - 6 - All Pass.

*10-15 HCP; Could Be Short

***2 w/Q

6 lead, Ten, Jack and Ace... Plan the play:

Scoring: IMP

Opps play UDCA, 3rd/5th Leads.

(Proofread for 13 cards but not the J ;))

You cant continue until the TD has sorted out where the J has come from.

Odd auction!

East has all the points for his opening, West could have a Jack but not much more.
Pull trump, play 7 to King , East takes with the Ace.
If Easts returns a duck
Else return to table and run 9 ? ;)

19 + 10 + 10 = West has a yarb or one knave - both A and Q are offside.

East has Qxx or fewer (this we know from the exotic redouble), we can establish the J with a ruff but there is no way back to dummy to enjoy it. Hopeless.

That club lead, 3/5, no Q for West... That 6 could only be led from a doubleton, right? (From three small clubs or more we would have seen the 3 or 4.) Might even be a singleton.

So only East is guarding the clubs. Simple squeeze then. Draw trumps, rectify, finish in dummy with

J
x

Kx

RHO cracks - he can only keep two of Q Q8.

A good case for falsecarding the opening lead. Lefty should be aware that declarer knows too much already.

Then again, I don't see any other line of play so I'd probably try that squeeze no matter how much West lied to me. Besides, it also works if West led from 643.

Isn`t this an easy endgame?
I win the club, draw trumps and pay Heart Heart Heart ruff. When they did not lie, my heart jack will be good now.
Then I play a spade up, RHO must win and play a club, which I let run to the 9.

This needs everybody to have his bid and diamonds 3-2.
Kind Regards

RHO can return a spade, no?

...and you can discard two losing clubs on the high spade and the jack of H.
No more losers left.

Duh, silly me. Yes, it works. Even when West has the 8, which beats my squeeze.

ok... Now what if we assume RHO psyched? After all he is 3rd seat... These lines will work if RHO has a legitimate opener, but if you give the redoubler credit for some points this really changes things. What I'm saying is that everybody trusts RHO (A junior), which is probably a mistake .

How would you play this without any information from the opponents? LHO can be trusted to have 4, but RHO probably cannot be trusted.

When the XX does not show just 4 + Heart, but some HCPS too, you should have mentioned it. :)

I know, sometimes people make silly psychs, but where is the sense in psyching 1 Diamond?

Okay, so I play with some young guns, who like to make these kind of bids.

I think I play for this ending then:
KQ93
AJ62
-
-

7
Kx
86
Axx

I play the spade:
When lho has the ace, he cannot win, else I have 12 tricks. So he must duck and I ruff a spade and play a low club. I win the return in hand and squeeze the opps to show me the queen of heart.

When rho has the ace, he wins. In this case, I win the return again in hand and finesse later in heart.
Kind Regards

Roland
