My opponents arrived at 5 and went 1 down. Most people met the same fate around the field (playing only 4), but the contract can be made. Can you make the contract and assure me that it was the field to blame and not my defense for a bad result?

Scoring: MP

West opened 1 and you doubled in the balancing position. K was led.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I would assume the diamond finesse is going to work, and cross my fingers for 3-3 spades. Four aces, the Q and five ruffs (2 spade, 2 club, 1 diamond).

Or should we bank on 4-4 clubs instead (1 spade ruff, 3 club, 1 diamond)???

Either way, if declarer finds the winning line, it looks like the defense is powerless to stop it. This is a "run away with the tricks line" - not much to do except maybe throw out false signals in the hope that South will choose a club ruff rather than a spade ruff for his 10th trick, or vice versa.
