The contract is good, though the decision between playing 6 or 7 sometiemes depends on your opponents. Anyway, why didn't you ask for the trump Q when you knew partner had 3 Key Cards?

Because partner has (almost certain) 8 card ♠. With a 7-card and 8-9 tricks, he would rather bid 2♦-2♥-3♠ (semi-GF in ♠).
Therefor ♠Q is only useful if ♠ are 3-0.

Good contract, unlucky.

Only because you are vulnerable is the inference about the 8th spade valid. Otherwise I'm not that convinced. Diagnosing an 8-2 (10 card fit) is rather tricky.

True... But this was a good contract, and very unlucky. It's reasons like this why bridge is a frustrating game .
