I felt that dragging up a 22-year old issue that named names who might be active members of our community served more harm than good. So I moved the thread away. If it is going to be resuscitated, pls don't include names.

Did I miss something? Wasn't it a link to a NYT article? Did someone accuse somebody of cheating? B)

It was a link to a New York Times article about a player I have never heard of who is apparently banned from the ACBL over cheating, but now playing in the ABA. I honestly don't know what aspect made it suddenly qualify as news.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

22 years ago, I won a bottle of wine in a side game in Gatlinburg, TN. My partner, an adult, let me have the wine. I was under age. Therefore, bopth she and I probably committed some crime against the State of Tennessee.

I just wanted to come clean, to avoid any inquiries into the matter without my formal statement.

I regret my decision, and I profoundly apologize. I also apologize for the several drinks that I had for many years prior to this in various hospitality rooms, always acquiesced in by other ACBL members.

I apologize for my associations with these various enablers, and I even renounce their actions.
