3NT so I can play it. But really, 3H is showing a stopper and how on earth would I know if partner is 5-5? Anyway, even if partner is 5-5, 3NT still rates to be good.

WTP and why is this in the A/E forum?

Wouldn't it be unanimous there too?

Unless you have an agreement 3 is a stopper or somefink, pard SHOULD be 55 because the 3 rebid tends to deny 4.

This would be a unanimous vote except someone must have misclicked on the Pass.

.-) You asked for it.

And I did not vote for Pass ...

I disagree with the statement mntioned in the thread
else where, that 3NT is a wtp, but I am willing to admit,
that 3NT is the best bid under condition, since we play MP,

I voted for 4D, and one should at least consider the bid,
since responder is unlimited, and we have a power house,
making 6D a real possibility.

But bypassing 3NT at MP is always risky, so 4D is most
likely only an option one should choose, if one is looking
for tops, because one needs to catch up.

I don't understand the rationale for 4.

Yes, we have a fine hand. But we have already shown that we have a fine hand.

Yes, we have a very good diamond suit. But we have already shown that we have a very good diamond suit.

We have 1-3 in the majors - but partner has the majors.

We have AQJ in the unbid suit. Seems right for notrump.

If there is a slam here, partner should be able to take another call over 3NT.

It's been a while since I've visited the forum. Last time I was here, there was a spirited, if slightly prolonged debate about the merits of bypassing your own major when you have support for partner's, which was preceded by another debate about how to handle 1453 hands with non-reverse values after a 1d-1s start. These debates did go on seemingly forever and one could be forgiven for wishing that they'd stop.

Well you got your wish, H_KARLUK seems to be firmly in control of this place now :o

Hi,

I just discussed this hand with my regular p, who is a lot more
enterprising than I am, but he said, that he would have 3NT
instead of 3D.

But I have just seen, that p is a passed hand, which makes a

What was the point of this poll?
Not only is 3NT the blindingly obvious call it also transpired to be the correct contract.

Maybe he had a bet/dispute with somebody. Using this forum to settle such things is fine by me, though I would probably never do it myself.
