Does anybody know or can anybody find out what percentage of BBO deals involve a claim -- in the main room or in matches -- and with no robots?

ooohhh this is dangerous ground for BBO. Next I will want to know what the rejection rate of a claim by this individual is and then what %age of rejected claims make the exact number of tricks originally claimed :) :) The last being somewhat a measure of how much this individual likes playing against assholes (oops North end of a south bound mule) :)

My guesses:

Claim %age: 6% (thanks to the stronger tables that its even as much as that!)
Reject %age: 85% (noting that about 90% of the correctly rejected claims are by the claimer himself)
Correct rejected claims: 95% (not including above)

I'm mainly interested in the percentage of claims (whether rejected or not). I'm less interested in the percentage of rejected-claims.

My guess is that the number of claims earlier than trick 12 is less than 1%.

Watching some of my intermediate friends they practically never claim, and I guess this level is the (silent) majority.

A claim at trick 12 is still a claim but I'm still surprised low the estimates are.

I played ACBL speedballs as PhantomSac for a while since I had money there and I noticed something weird...people didn't accept my claims. So I went back to jlall and people just accepted. Yay for having a star?

Yes it is very hard to keep the CECO principle alive but I will continue to try and propagate it. Not claiming IMV is equivalent to pulling the wings off of flies when whoever was a child. I sometimes wonder if people feel the need to physically click on each card to feel like they took it. Perhaps that is why when I am last to play on trick 13 I will claim by conceding the trick after declarer plays his side's last card, that way declarer needs one more klik to get to the next hand.

A lot of people are not particularly computer-savvy and don't find the claim button intuitive, presuming that they can find it. Add to that abuse they may have received in the past and they just think it is quicker and less bother to play it out. And, to be fair, they very rarely claim at the club either.

It is not the equivalent to pulling the wings of flies. I only claim when I think there's a significant chance of my claim being accepted.

Claim acceptance rate is speedballs is particularly interesting, and wow that they rejected when you were PhantomSac, Justin. However, I can also agree somewhat with that, since when I play with Owen in speedballs and I claim, it isn't always accepted... However his almost always are.

I was playing in Orlando all of last week, and overheard the following at a table next to me:
"You didn't state a line of play"
"I have the Six of Spades, and two club tricks, the third club goes on the spade... OK?"
"No, when you claimed, you didn't state a line of play... We should get one more trick"
"DIRECTOR!!"

The director came to table and Declarer explained that both opponents had shown out of spades on the round before! The opponents still argued that declarer didn't know the 6 was good. Declarer was a world-class player/professional with 9000+ MPs. Our table had to try really hard to keep from laughing while the director was at their table.

Anyway, I think the point here is that even when you have all the rest, it's a shot in the dark. I prefer to claim and deal with any problems it may cause, even if well-stated. Others prefer never to claim for the exact same reason. The in-betweeners are what I don't really understand, since you'll never know the opponents will argue about a claim until you make it.
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

I'm sorry, I should have realized from the way you defended that I had to explain everything in gory detail.

with 6 tricks left you hold in hand KJxx and in dummy AQT9xx no opposing trumps out don't your really think you should claim rather than play. That is what I am talking about

I agree with that and I would claim. But if I don't know my opponents, not in situations when I still have some pitches to make before my hand is high. It's just not worth it.
